Art Lebedev Studio Navigarius Sat Nav

Art Lebedev Studio Navigarius Sat Nav

The Sat Nav is not renowned for its state of the art design, with chunky squares and rectangles being the name of the day. Now, all that is in the past – the Sat Nav just got curvy.

Developed by the innovative Russian design house, Art Lebedev Studio the Navigarius is still in the makeover stages but should become an actual product in the near future. With mini USB and microSD and cigarette lighter adapter, it’s hardly revolutionizing Sat Nav technology, but the new circular shape is raising eyebrows everywhere. Not only is it more futuristic, it offers a much more user-friendly interface with a round touch-screen and a slender, futuristic detachable stand that fixes onto the windscreen via suction.

This is one time when it’s good to be round, it remains to be seen if the concept is adopted by other providers of portable navigation devices.

Garmin nuvi 765t

The popular Sat Nav famed for the voice of “Australian Karen,” now features the latest maps with new motorway lane guidance graphics that will guide you into the right line of traffic and indicate the correct choice for approaching turns and exits.

Thanks to some realistic full screen lane graphics which show you exactly where your car should be positioned on the road, motorway confusion is now a thing of the past. The Garmin nuvi also helps motorists to navigate through a panoramic city to 3D tourist landmarks, using City Navigator’s Europe NT 2009 3D database. Geo-tagged images allow you to save photos from Google Panoramio and select a photo destination for directions to it when required. Routes can be planned to gauge the most fuel efficient with up-to-date maps. Bluetooth phone links enable hands-free calling and traffic alerts. Details about your exact location can be given on command and Garmin’s unique advanced driver safety system alerts you to safety cameras and speed limits.

With a 4.3 inch, 480×272 pixel screen, comprehensive updated European maps are included in the price along with TMC traffic and Bluetooth. Navigation includes spoken road names. Garmin’s interface is notoriously easy to use and its view is simple and clear with roads and routes being clearly distinguished with extraneous on-screen clutter being kept firmly in check. An advanced multi-point route planning lets you save 10 routes and preview the journey. All you have to do is drive there.

Vexia Econav 435 release dates

This Sat Nav, previously only available in Europe is now ready for its UK launch in September 2009.

The Vexia Econav 435 purports to reduce your energy consumption by sending you on the most fuel saving route as well as advising on efficient driving techniques. It will be available with just UK maps or with UK and European data combined.

Makers claim that the Econav can save you up to £400 on your fuel bill and up to 30% on carbon emissions. Theoretically, it should pay for itself in the first six months of use, depending on how many miles you do a day and should ultimately lead to safer and more eco-friendly driving.

The driver simply inputs data into the 4.3 inch touch-screen including details of the vehicle, fuel type and car occupancy and the sat nav will advise on the optimal route. During the course of the journey, the Accelerator Pedal Indicator instructs the driver on the best gear to use and as to whether he or she is being too heavy on the accelerator. Not the Sat Nav for the likes of Jeremy Clarkson maybe, but users should have ample time to reflect on how many pennies they’re saving during the course of the journey.
