The Red Faction series continues with the release of the third instalment, Guerilla. Red Faction:Guerrilla takes place in 2120, nearly 50 years after the events of the first Red Faction. The Earth Defense Force (EDF), the allies in the original Red Faction, has become the main antagonist of Guerrilla. The organization has now turned to kidnapping people and putting them in forced work camps for their own profit. Played this time around in the third person, players assume the command of character Alec Mason, a former miner who rebels against the EDF. He entered the war against the EDF because of his brother’s murder and has become a part of the newly re-formed Red Faction, whose motto is “Better Red than Dead”.
Most of the game takes place on the terraformed surface of Mars, with other locations including the Ultor labs, to pay homage to the first Red Faction. The game is set to be released June 9 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and August 25 for Microsoft Windows.
