‘Milk’ is available on DVD rental. This film is a biographical account about the life and eventual assassination of the gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk.
The making of this film uses footage from archives as it looks at Harvey Milks life living in San Francisco from his 40th birthday onward. He is a gay activist who then turns to a life in politics to get his message across. Eventually he is successful and gains a seat within the state assembly.
Milk forms a difficult working relationship with a man called White. When Milk doesn’t conform to helping White in several political battles, White becomes an unstable character. This results in him assassinating Milk and Mayor Moscone in 1978.
